Climate change seminars

These climate change seminars will take place at venues around the UK. We are currently taking bookings for:

  • 4 March 2009, Edinburgh - condensed

  • 30 April 2009, London - full day
    Venue details (Church House)

Please book by 18 February for Edinburgh and 16 April for London to secure your place.

Seminar contents

We can offer a range of seminars to suit your needs.

  • Full-day – this will give you a broad understanding of climate change and allows time for debate and discussion. It will be facilitated by an expert trainer and include presentation from world-leading Met Office Hadley Centre scientists.  
  • Condensed – a slightly condensed version of the above course which will last four hours.
  • In-house – We can be flexible to your needs and offer bespoke in-house seminars to address your specific concerns. Please contact us to discuss your requirements.

Format

The format for seminars will centre around the following

The earth's climate - including:

Defining climate and climate change
The latest evidence that our climate is changing

What does the future hold? - including:

Future global projections of climate change
UK regional predictions

Mitigation strategies

Who runs the seminar?

A key source of vital information on the weather and climate, the Met Office provides forecasts and sensitivity analyses to organisations across the world. This information ranges in scale from hours to decades ahead and site-specific to global in coverage.

Scientists from the Met Office Hadley Centre make significant contributions to many national and international climate change groups, including the Intergovernmental Panel on Climate Change (IPCC) and the UK Climate Impacts Programme. They also provide information and guidance to climate reviews which included the Stern Review on the Economics of Climate Change.

Pricing

Full-day - £475 ex. VAT per delegate, which includes tuition, handouts, lunch and refreshments.
Condensed - £275 ex. VAT per delegate, which includes tuition, handouts, lunch and refreshments. Timings are flexible and we can accommodate a morning, afternoon or across-lunchtime slot.
In-house – We are happy to discuss your requirements and will price on request.

Who should attend

This seminar is designed for professionals in Government and the public sector. It's particularly appropriate for those with responsibility for, or interest in, planning, projects and policies. No prior scientific training is required.

About the course
 
Payment terms and conditions

Payment must be received within 14 days of the course starting, although bookings will be accepted up to the seminar starting, subject to availability. You will be contacted before the course to arrange credit/debit card payment. If you cancel within 14 days of the course starting then full charges are due and the cost will not be refunded.

Courses will run subject to at least 20 delegates attending. Should there be less than 20 delegates, you will be offered an alternative date or have your fee refunded.
